The 2019 Taipei International Sporting Goods Show (TaiSPO) will be held in Taiwan World Trade Center (TWTC) Hall 1 and Hall 3 along with the Taiwan International Diving and Water Sports Show (DiWaS) and Taipei International Sports Textile and Accessory Expo (SPOMODE) from March 28 to 30 next year (2019). Furthermore, TaiSPO will be held during the same event period as Taipei CYCLE, one of the world's top three bicycle exhibitions, and the total number of booths is expected to reach 4,800, creating Asia's most complete sporting goods procurement platform. This platform will provide professionals from around the world with information on the industry's latest trends, and will also provide excellent opportunities for discussing business partnerships.

Global fitness trends and smart sporting business opportunities drive industrial development

The global fitness trend continues to drive the development of domestic and overseas fitness industries. According to statistics of the International Health Racquet and Sportsclub Association (IHRSA), revenue from gyms worldwide reached US$87.2 billion; the total number of members reached over 170 million and is expected to grow to 230 million by 2030. The annual TaiSPO is the best time for major domestic fitness equipment manufacturers to display their latest products and develop business opportunities. Major fitness equipment manufacturers that participated in the 2018 event include Johnson, Dyaco, Tong Geng, Joong Cheen, Strength Master, HealthStream, and Sports Art. As in previous years, the 2019 event will have a fitness equipment, outdoor sporting equipment, diving equipment, water sports equipment, sportswear and accessories, and ball sporting goods area, furthermore, the "smart sporting area" and "sporting and fitness service area" will be even bigger.

Taiwan Smart Textiles Association to take part for the first time

The smart sporting area will showcase solutions for applying smart wearable devices and clothing in sporting and fitness. The solutions were developed by members of Taiwan Smart Textiles Association, including Everest Textile and Tex-Ray Industrial. Other products that will be displayed include smart fitness system solutions and AR/VR sporting applications. This is expected to cause electronics and textiles industries to form cross-industry alliances with Taiwan's sporting and fitness industry. Furthermore, according statistics of the Ministry of Finance, the number of gyms in Taiwan grew 119% over the last three years, and there are high expectations for future business opportunities. The "sporting and fitness service area" will be expanded to include gym management, gym operation, sports instructions, and sports nutrition, linking together the entire fitness industry ecosystem.

The event continues to grow with more than 25,000 visitors in 2018!

The 2018 TaiSPO attracted a total of 325 exhibitors that used nearly 1,700 booths, attracting over 25,000 visitors and over 1,700 buyers from around the world, nearly 110 one-to-one trade meetings were held. Furthermore, the 2020 Tokyo Olympics can be expected to bring a new wave of business opportunities for Taiwan's sporting and fitness industry.

A variety of activities will be held during the 2019 event period, including fitness industry related forums, smart sporting seminars, and new product experience activities, helping domestic and foreign buyers and related companies gain information on the latest products and future market trends. Furthermore, excellent products that best represent Taiwan's innovative research & development and design ability are selected through the Innovation Award and Innovative Design Award, which show the latest concepts and highest quality products, attracting the attention of international buyers and providing exposure in international media.
