ABS-CBN Drama Series Is Lone Philippine Nominee in 1st Asia Contents Awards

MANILA --( ASIA TODAY )-- ABS-CBN, the Philippines’ leading media and entertainment company, has added another milestone this 2019 as its phenomenal show “Wildflower” emerged as the only Philippine drama series that has been nominated as Best Asian Drama in the 1st Asia Contents Awards, which will be held in Busan, South Korea on October 6.

“Wildflower” will compete with outstanding Asian TV series from South Korea, China, Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Brunei, Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar, and Cambodia.
The 1st Asia Contents Awards aims to reward the finest TV dramas produced across Asia in the last five years. It is organized by the renowned film festival Busan International Film Festival and Asian Film Market, an annual film market in South Korea.

“Wildflower” also continues to make waves worldwide now that it airs in three French-speaking countries, including New Caledonia, Polynesia, and Reunion Islands, with the recent partnership of ABS-CBN with Ampersand fiction, a French content distributor.

It is also currently shown in several French-speaking African countries and will soon air in Madagascar this October with ABS-CBN’s deal with Startimes.

“Wildflower” reigned supreme in Philippine primetime TV for a year. Its main protagonist Ivy Aguas/Lily Cruz, played by acclaimed Filipino actress Maja Salvador, was noted for her embodiment of women empowerment and fighting against oppression as she took down the vicious clan of Ardiente.
