The exhibition: a collaborative industry platform
A platform like Chengdu InfoComm China is critical in Western China as the region is experiencing fast-pace growth and development, said Intel’s IoT Group Vice President and Visual Retail and Digital Signage Global Director Jose A. Avalos in his address at the Opening Ceremony.

He said: “Most people think the future just happens. But in reality, it just doesn’t. We make it happen. The people in this room are making it happen. We are the ones developing the solutions that deliver the new experiences that are interactive, that are fun, experiences that will improve the lives of consumers. We make the future. And this is simply why the Chengdu InfoComm China is so important, it allows companies like Intel and our ecosystem to come together, to have a dialogue and work together to demonstrate the solutions that we are creating. We are making the future together."

Exhibitors committed to Western China
Among the over 150 exhibitors, many, including big-name companies like Intel, Epson, Yamaha, Harman, Bose and AOTO, were heartened that their strategy to be first movers in Western China, by riding on the Chengdu InfoComm China platform had paid off. Orders and transactions were penned at the show for some exhibitors, with many reiterating their commitment to the Western China market with booth spaces booked for the next run in 2019.

Leo Yan, Senior Manager, Sales, for Professional Solutions, Harman International (China) Holdings Co., Ltd, said, “For a first show in Chengdu, the turnout is very good. Many industry players, including large enterprises, small and medium business owners, designers and systems integrators were all at the show; essentially the audience base we had anticipated and hoped to see at the show, all showed up. InfoComm China remains one of the most important shows on Harman's annual calendar, and has always been a show we attach great importance to. There aren’t many such fairs here in China, and with the industry shifting towards convergence and integration, the show platform is in sync with our market strategy. We will definitely be back next year!”

Innovations galore, inspirations afore
Visitors were also blown away by the breadth and depth of technologies showcased, which included Command and Control systems for traffic management, security surveillance, defence and healthcare services, digital signage for advertising, retail and information communications, 3D projections for education, entertainment, museums and exhibitions, collaborative communications technology, conference systems for corporate and hospitality, and theatre systems for smart homes. At the show, many products which were new to Western China were launched.

Many came away inspired to transform their businesses with innovative ideas they took away from the show, like Alibaba Group’s OS Business Unit - TV Division Vice General Manager Jonson Wu. Coming from Hangzhou, it was Mr Wu’s first time attending an InfoComm China show and he was blown away by his experience in Chengdu.

He said, “It was a very good show, definitely one of the most professional trade shows I’ve attended in China. It was very well-organized, including the pre-show registration instructions, the on-site registration and wayfinding around the venue, the layout of the show floor, careful attention was paid to all the details. I learned quite a few new ideas, like the integrated solutions for enterprise meetings which I can immediately implement for a few conference room projects I’m working on for my clients. The show also brings together many of our potential future customers, as well as competitors. At the same time, I can size up competitors’ product offerings and stay competitive."

Chengdu InfoComm China Summit - Hearing is believing
The Chengdu InfoComm China Summit - the educational component at the trade fair which comprised a series of free industry forums and seminars with the objectives of knowledge-sharing and elevating the level of professionalism within the industry - was another platform that delegates benefited from. Over the three days, 5,332 attendance for more than 40 sessions, where experts shared emerging trends and in-depth market insights. Wide-ranging and pertinent issues explored included that of artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, digital signage, visual technology, smart hotels, smart cities and transportation.

Star of Mind (Beijing) Technology Co., Ltd Vice General Manager Xie Jing from Nanchong, a prefecture-level city northeast of Sichuan, shared his discovery. "This is the first time I have attended the InfoComm China Summit and I have learned so many things. I had little understanding prior to entering this industry, the summit sessions left me completely in awe at the marvel of technology and its development! There were many technologies and products that I have only been reading and hearing about for so long, but I finally got to see them at the show, and even better, have the experts explain these technologies in person, it has been a really rewarding experience."
