EXSA 2019 honours industry’s best service individuals

October 17, 2019 Singapore --( ASIA TODAY )-- The industry gathered yesterday to recognise some of the most outstanding service individuals who took centrestage at the NTUC Centre Auditorium at One Marina Boulevard, to receive their awards as this year’s winners of the Excellent Service Awards (EXSA). The event was graced by Guest of Honour, Ms Choy Sauw Kook Enterprise Singapore Director- General (Quality and Excellence) and attended by more than 500 guests.

Launched in 1994, EXSA is a national award that recognises individuals who have delivered quality service. It seeks to develop service models for staff to emulate and to create service champions and organisations with EXSA staff are committed to achieving service excellence. They seek to deliver superior service through service champions in their organisations.

“2019 is a special year for EXSA as we celebrate 25 years of recognising individuals who have gone beyond the call of duty to deliver exceptional service and create memorable experiences for customers. In the last 25 years, more than 25,000 awards have been given out to recipients in the food and beverage sector,” said Ms Choy Sauw Kook Enterprise Singapore Director- General (Quality and Excellence).

Since 2004, the Restaurant Association of Singapore (RAS) has continued the tradition started by the then PSB Academy. EXSA for the Food and Beverage industry is managed by RAS. It is RAS’ desire to also recognise enlightened employers who understand the importance of recognition of service excellence. The award has the distinction of support from long term participating companies.
In conjunction with the 25th year of the Awards, RAS has introduced the EXSA Advocacy Award which celebrates companies that have shown continued efforts in service excellence for at least five years. The EXSA Advocacy Award recognises the organisation’s role in creating a positive experience for customers and an enabling environment for employees.

EXSA 2019 honours 2,510 recipients from 67 companies. There were 19 entries this year for the EXSA Superstar Award, the entries were professionally evaluated by a panel of distinguished judges representing the Institute of Service Excellence at SMU (ISE), Enterprise Singapore and RAS. Special recognition will be given to five awardees with the most outstanding service for this year. They are:

McDonald’s Singapore

Kumaran S/O Chandrasegaran of Kampong Café @BM, Kampong Group Pte Ltd emerged as the overall winner.
