#FITUR2016, the most social staging in FITUR’s history

The 36th staging of Fitur, the International Tourism Fair held in Madrid, will become the hub of all social media from 20 to 24 January in collaboration with the industry’s principal social partners of the moment, implementing the social media strategy being deployed by FITUR’s digital agency HEY AV for the fifth consecutive year.

With the collaboration of Twitter, we will have the #FITUR2016 travelling robot moving around the corridors of the trade show halls while streaming everything it encounters on its way through the Trade Show’s account in Periscope (access via the mobile app or twitter account @fitur_madrid), the trendiest social media platform right now. Our robot will also be the centre of attention at the presentation of the traditional FITUR awards to the TRAVEL BLOGGERS 2016, whose prize this year will be a five-day stay in Israel plus an all-expenses-paid trip to the trade show. The winners were the #TravelBlogger to Best Content, Molly Sears (Piccavey, United Kingdom) and the Most Popular #TravelBlogger, Mary Salas (Los viajes de Mary (Mary’s Travels), Peru).

On Facebook, targeting both the professional public (from Wednesday to Friday) and the weekend general public, FITUR’s fanpage will be publishing different, never previously implemented social apps. The Are you a 3.0 Tourist? app is taking a survey among our followers to extract data on the travel habits of our users to then publish infographics reports on the trade show’s social networks. A prize draw of five double admission tickets will be held among our participants. Furthermore, on the Tuesday before the start of the trade show we will publish a catalogue-type app with the offers of our exhibitors.

130,000 tweets on FITUR in the lead-up to FITUR

In the 20 days leading up to FITUR since the start of 2016, an estimated figure of more than 130,000 tweets will mention the #FITUR topic on Twitter, warming up the field for the most social staging in the history of the Madrid tourism trade show. It is also putting greater distance between it and its principal competitors in the strategy and data of its Facebook page: the FITUR account on Facebook has already exceeded the figure of 81,000 loyal and staunch followers that keep up with us year after year and are growing at a tremendous rate.

With inspiring postings in unimaginable destinations, FITUR’s Instagram account has exceeded all expectations and has obtained almost 20,000 likes in one of its latest postings. It now numbers more than a thousand followers on the social network preferred by bloggers.
