Kuala Lumpur, 14 June 2019 --( ASIA TODAY )-- Policymakers and captains of the oil and gas industry are expected to leverage on the upcoming Asia Oil and Gas Conference (AOGC) 2019, carrying the theme, ‘Forging a New Energy Future’, to discuss the changes in the global energy landscape.

The 20th edition of the AOGC is hosted by PETRONAS and is set to welcome some of the most prominent energy leaders from around the world.

The Prime Minister of Malaysia Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad will officially open AOGC 2019, on June 24th at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.

In a message for the Conference, Tun Dr Mahathir shared his thoughts on the need for innovation within and beyond the oil and gas industry to develop solutions in addressing the rapidly changing energy landscape.

“Ensuring accessibility, security and sustainability of energy is a challenge that affects every nation. It is important for policymakers and captains of the industry to leverage on this conference as a platform to offer solutions in addressing this matter,” he noted.

In the run-up to AOGC 2019, several other key decision-makers have also shared their messages including Tan Sri Wan Zulkiflee Wan Ariffin, President & Group Chief Executive Officer, PETRONAS, who remarked that the Conference is crucial, now more than ever, as a strategic platform for insightful dialogues and exchange of ideas, given the rapidly changing energy landscapes.

“As we contemplate our evolving future landscape and in light of rising global energy demand and environmental concerns, collaborative approaches are needed within and beyond the industry to develop innovative solutions in forging a new energy future,’’ he noted.

Chansin Treenuchagron, President and Chief Executive Officer of PTT Public Company Limited (PTT) emphasised the importance of sustainability. “The world is growing at a faster pace than we can imagine. With the significant impact by disruptive technology, a smart move towards energy transition through partnerships will create resilience, sustainability, and energy security to overcome the undefined future,” he said.

Sanjiv Singh, Chairman, Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IndianOil), an Indian state-owned oil and gas company, said India has already put policies in place to address environmental concerns by taking substantial steps to reduce carbon emissions and he will be outlining some of the initiatives at the Conference. "As a company, we are fully committed to environmental issues. It is not only the way we do our business, but it is also what we do. Asia has a major role to play in creating a sustainable energy future,” he added.

Russell Hardy, Group Chief Executive Officer of Vitol, who is also scheduled to participate in the CEO dialogue, said that the Conference can be instrumental in helping shape the future of the industry. “The decisions taken today will impact the world’s energy markets for many years and this high-level forum, in the heart of the world’s fastest-growing region, is an opportunity for us to help shape the future,” he added.

The 20th Asia Oil and Gas Conference will take place on 23-25 June 2019, at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, Malaysia.
