The Green Building Council (GBC) Indonesia will hold a conference and expo on green building on April 11-13, 2012.

Taking the title Green Right 2012 Indonesia Green Building Conference and Expo: Adapt to Sustain toward a Greener Tomorrow, the event will feature a conference, seminar and expo on green issues, as well as hosting a green building concept exhibition.

“Green concepts are not trends, but have soul,” GBC Indonesia chairperson Naning SA Adiwoso said on Thursday as quoted by kompas.com.

The event was a concrete step to educate and encourage both the public and the property industry to care for the earth that has been affected by global warming, she said.

“It needs deeper and sustainable education to improve awareness and spur real action to preserve the earth from the ecological damage caused by humans,” Naning said.

She added that preserving the earth could not be done by planting trees alone; it would be more effective to encourage people to adopt a green lifestyle by preserving water, energy, and in creating good waste management systems. (iwa)
