QI Groups Boey Kho conferred inaugural Iconic Legacy Honour

KUALA LUMPUR, 26th July 2019 --( ASIA TODAY )-- QI Group’s Director of Human Resources and Administration, Boey Kho has been conferred the Iconic Legacy Honour presented at the inaugural IPEC Global Legacy 2019 Recognition Gala held here on Tuesday.

The award was presented by Deputy Chief Minister of Sabah, Datuk Seri Wilfred Madius Tangau to individuals in various industries for the impact they have made in their respective fields.

Boey Kho, who is also the CEO of QI’s Malaysian business was recognized for her focus on an extensive range of social and community work, industry and human empowerment. Under her stewardship, the QI Group has been involved in a number of social impact initiatives in Malaysia that help local underserved communities. Also, she is involved in the employee volunteering program of the QI Group through which employees of QI in Malaysia have contributed more than 10,000 hours volunteering for various causes.

The awards given by IPEC recognise achievements of international entrepreneurs, business leaders, CSR ambassadors, and outstanding sportsmanship. IPEC, which stands for International Persons Certification, is an accredited certification body under the Department of Standards, Malaysia. Other award recipients of the night included the world’s biggest sporting icons, Datuk Nicol Ann David and Datuk Lee Chong Wei, both former world number one ranked in squash and badminton respectively.

Boey Kho said, “Our Founders have inculcated the philosophy of RYTHM– Raise Yourself to Help Mankind, into every aspect of the company, which has guided me on this path for nearly two decades. I am honoured and humbled to be recognized for playing my part in driving their vision. This is a testament to the impact being made by the QI Group towards a sustainable future.”

The IPEC award panel conducted an extensive evaluation of all nominations received over a period of three months. The award jury panel included Prof Dato Dr Jayles Yeoh, Dato Nathan K. Suppiah and Dato Azmel Haji Maamor.

Boey Kho has served the QI Group of Companies, a diversified multi business conglomerate, since 2001 in key roles in Operations, Finance, Human Resources and Administration. She began her career in the company as Group Operations Manager before moving to the Finance function and later becoming the Group Chief Financial Officer.

In 2005, she spearheaded the successful application of the Operational Headquarters (OHQ) status for QI Malaysia from MIDA (Malaysian Industrial Development Authority), and the company was later recognized as a Global Excellence Hub. Under the OHQ status, the company founded by Malaysian entrepreneur Dato Sri Vijay Eswaran, has brought many back-end functions from the Group’s overseas subsidiaries back into Malaysia, which has created many job opportunities in the country.

“I am a believer in the philosophy that Legacy is not what we do for ourselves but what we are doing for the next generation,” added Boey.

Three categories, known as the Prime, Visionary and Iconic Legacy awards were presented. The Prime Legacy Honour award is for individuals who have been an impetus for honourable acts, the Visionary award is for individuals who made innovative and creative contributions to the society, and the Iconic Legacy award is to recognise founding members of global institutions or businesses. Prof Ng Wee Kong of the Association of International Certified Association was the sole recipient of the Visionary Award.
