TaipeiPLAS and ShoeTech 2020 to Be Postponed TIMTOS and Wood Taiwan will be Held in First Half of Next Year
Jul 04, 2020

Jointly organized by Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) and Taiwan Association of Machinery Industry (TAMI), TaipeiPLAS and ShoeTech Taipei, which is originally scheduled to be held in September 2020, will be postponed to a new date which will be announced later, due to the fact the COVID-19 pandemic has not yet subsided in the rest of the world and may affect this export-oriented professional trade show.

For those exhibitions to be held this year but affected by the pandemic, the organizer TAITRA has launched, one after another, a series of integrated online services, such as "Online 2D/VR exhibitions", " Online Sourcing Meeting", "TTS Webinars", and "Online New Product Launches". It is hoped that TAITRA can work together with exhibitors to overcome difficulties during the pandemic period. Moreover, to implement the "Smart Machinery Overseas Promotion Plan" and "Taiwan Excellence Award (Machinery Industry)" initiated by the Bureau of Foreign Trade, TAITRA has also launched a series of online integrated marketing activities to help Taiwanese traders grasp global business opportunities!

After the postponement of TaipeiPLAS and ShoeTech, two important machinery shows will be held in the first half of 2021. That is to say, the Taipei Int’l Machine Tool Show (TIMTOS), which is Asia’s second largest and the world’s third largest machine tool show, will be held in March 2021, followed by the Taiwan Int’l Woodworking Machinery Show (Wood Taiwan) in April 2021. It has been announced that registrations for both exhibitions will begin on June 9 and June 15, respectively. It is highly expected that the manufacturing industry will be blooming in the post-pandemic era, and TIMTOS and Wood Taiwan will serve as important platforms to deploy the post-restructured manufacturing supply chains in 2021.

The "National Face Mask Production Team" organized by Taiwan's machine tool manufacturer to fight against the pandemic has won critical acclaim, demonstrating to the world once again the strengths and resilience of the machinery industry in Taiwan. TIMTOS 2021 will open its grand doors March 15 to 20 next year in three exhibition halls - Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center Hall 1 and Hall 2 and TWTC Hall 1. It is expected to attract 1,230 vendors to use nearly 7,000 booths to showcase a variety of precision machine tools, metal cutting tool machines, metal forming machine tools, key components and smart manufacturing solutions. The TIMTOS will fully present how the advantages of ICT industry are incorporated with smart machinery and smart manufacturing to create the latest machine tool technologies and products.

Then, Wood Taiwan 2021 will be held at Nangang Exhibition Center Hall 1 from April 22 to 25. As the only international trade show of woodworking machinery in Taiwan, this show will exhibit various new models of woodworking machines that incorporate smart manufacturing concepts, such as the multi-function compound processing machinery, the CNC machining centers, the high-speed automated production lines and precision parts. Taiwan's woodworking machinery industry has a complete industrial chain. In 2019, its export value was US$584 million, ranked the world's fourth largest woodworking machinery exporter. Despite the impact of the pandemic, its exports have even grown by 17.5% in January to March 2020. Taiwan’s woodworking machines are well known for their small-volume but large-variety production, customizability, flexible delivery, stable quality and other characteristics. As a result, Wood Taiwan, held once every three years, has attracted the attention of companies at domestic and abroad.

Machinery is the mother of all industries. According to TAMI statistics, the annual output value of Taiwan’s machinery in 2019 reached US$36 billion, and the annual export value reached US$3 billion. It is an important cornerstone industry for the development of Taiwan’s manufacturing industry, for which the TAITRA hosts a number of international mechanical trade shows every year, including "TIMTOS", "TaipeiPLAS", "Taipei Intelligent Machinery & Manufacturing Technology Show", "Wood Taiwan" and "ShoeTech Taipei".
