In terms of the electricity production coming from new generators, PV ranked second with almost 30% after wind energy in 2012. The world’s cumulative capacity is capable of producing as much annual electrical energy as 16 coal power plants or nuclear reactors of 1 GW each and every year these installations save more than 53 million tons of CO2 according to the EPIA Global Market Outlook for Photovoltaics 2013-2017.
